Photo: AA Locksmith exterior AA Locksmith Service, a small 25-year old family business, was previously located on Columbia Pike near the famous Bob and Edith's Diner. Re-development prompted their relocation to 10th Street in Clarendon in 2007.

Vincent "Chip" Smith, the sports-minded operations manager is an avid bicyclist and triathlon enthusiast. A Yorktown High School graduate, Smith described lengthy biking excursions, on designated trails and off, between North Arlington and his family's shop. In fact, after the move to Clarendon, if his truck was not needed on a particular day, it was not unusual for him to ride his bicycle from Columbia Pike to work.

Smith mentions that in addition to local Northern Virginia clientele, the company enjoys significant business from DC residents and property managers seeking both traditional services such as key duplications and re-keying lock sets and repairs, to the more exotic. Some of these specialized services include security systems sales and repairs; moving of security safes; closed circuit surveillance installations; and access control systems and repairs.

While AA Locksmith offers a broad range of services, they continue to operate as they always have, as a family business. There are three full time and two part-time employees. Owing to the nature of their business and the need for vehicles to transport their tools of the trade, public transit is not an option. However, they appreciate the convenience of their location which offers customers multiple transit options.

Owner, Faith Dunlap, recalled that just last week a new customer arrived in the shop. Although they were from DC, the deciding factor on choosing AA Locksmith was because of its close proximity to the Metro.
